On 12th and 13th December 2019, one of EASTEM’s partner universities “Prince of Songkla University” (PSU) hosted the JIEC 2019 together with Universiti Utara Malaysia in Hat Yai, Thailand.

Among the keynote speakers was Arminas Varanauskas, an external stakeholder of the EASTEM project from the Knowledge Economy Forum in Lithuania. The three plenary speakers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suteera Prasertsan (Prince of Songkla University), Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornrat Wattanakasiwich (Chiang Mai University) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wannapong Triampo (Mahidol University) from EASTEM’s three Thai partner universities hold interesting speeches about STEM in Higher Education.

 

Train the Trainer

In total, there were 330 participants at the conference and a total number of 59 academic staff who are teaching in Higher Education participated in the workshops.

Further, EASTEM’s Thai partner universities were workshop leaders sharing some train the trainer (ToT) courses for STEM lecturers which were worked on as part of EASTEM WP 2. Two colleagues from EASTEM’s partner Uppsala University got the opportunity to attend the second day of the conference seeing the results of the successful TOT workshops in STEM education on the first conference day.
